Week One

We will start off the week with camp drop off on Saturday June 27th.  After the drop off at the camp’s base in Andover VT, the campers and counselors will start to get to know each other and go over gear that is going to be necessary on this trip.  The kids will set up their tents in the field and set up a camp site.  For the first week, skills will be taught to the students so that the next five weeks can be spent improving skills in the sports that we offer.  Skills will be taught in kayaking, hiking, climbing, mountain biking and camping.  On the last day at base camp the students will to a river clean up of the Otter Creek.

Week Two

We travel to New Hampshire where we will hike and bike. The hike will be up mount Manadnock on one of the days and the biking will be on some single track and double track trails in the Pisgah State Park.  The kids will be camping at the Manadnock State Park for three nights before moving on to the Mohawk Trail state park in MA.  On the way to the camp site we will be stopping to rock climb at Rose Ledge, a very cool cliff in western MA.  Once in western MA we will be learning some more white water kayaking skills on the lower Deerfield River for two days.  Then the kids will go rafting down the class 3 and 4 white water of the upper Deerfield River.

Week Three

We will start off the week by traveling to MT Graylock State Park to set up camp.  We will spend three nights here at the park.  We will be hiking to the summit of the highest peak in MA.  Then we will be mountain biking some awesome trails in Pittsfield State Park.  We will then move onto Hosatonic Meadows State Park in CT.  We will be paddling the white water of the Hosatonic River and hiking some of the Appalachian Trail.  While in CT we will also go to a large water park for some fun in the sun.

Week Four

We travel back to VT where we will stay at Emerald Lake State Park for a few nights. We will be caving and then packing up for a hike on the Long Trail.  We will be hiking and spending three nights on the long trail.  We will be traveling about 34 miles on the trail seeing some amazing sites and natural history along the way.  The last day on the trail we will rock climb at Deer’s Leap ledge.  We will end week four traveling to Grand Island State Park and doing some kayaking in Lake Champlain.  While at Grand Island SP we will be biking, hiking, and visiting Burlington, VT and the lake aquarium and science center.  We will also travel into NY to climb the cliffs around Chapel Pond in Keene Valley.

Week Five
